Carino by the coast

I've posted a couple of beach weddings and yet, irony of ironies, this is the FIRST beach wedding I've actually attended.

Two of hubby's workshoppers from his acting class, Maricar and Gino --  fell in love and decided to get married in the beautiful island of Boracay. Since their wedding was in January (two days after New Year's day), I had to reserve plane tickets and hotel rooms way in advance.

The only downside of hosting a destination wedding so close to the holidays? Very few guests. But then, an intimate wedding isn't at all that bad. Hubby and I decided to bring the kids along and make it a family vacation as well.

We arrived a day before the wedding and spent time on the beach, the restaurants and stores. We even rode a buggy around the island, and my teenage son rode the zipline for the first time.

It was a bit overcast, which made the ceremony weather more bearable.  :-)

The art of making sand castles has become a source of livelihood for some residents of Boracay.

The couple chose Sea Wind for their ceremony and reception venue.

Comfy woven mats (banig) and floor pillows for the kiddie guests

There's hubby walking down the aisle as one of the Principal Sponsors.

Instead of the usual confetti, paper airplanes were released during the recessional.

Finally, I was able to wear my wedding-themed flip flops! :-)

Gino and Maricar, who are both aspiring actors, chose wedding decor with details associated with film-making. They even served popcorn for cocktails :-)

A wishing well for the newlyweds.

Congratulations Gino and Maricar!
